Everyone Needs a Pair of Pink Gun Earrings
I'm not really a gun person, per se, but when you ad pink into the mix, I'm in. Being from New Hampshire, I've grown up surrounded by heaps of guns and basically hunting galore (not that I participated--I don't like killing animals and I'm sure I'd be a terrible shot and end up killing multiple people in the process).
A pink gun is the least intimidating gun in the world, so why not wear them on your ears? They're badass and girly at the same time, which is quite the feat for any piece of jewelry.
You can buy your very own pair for $3.99. They're practically free, so why wouldn't you get them?!

OPI's Latest: Shrek Forever After

The last thing I expected to see from OPI was a Shrek nail polish collection. But they did it! And the colors are unique and utterly fabulous.
All of the shades are amazingly easy to apply and have a cream-like texture. The polish is pretty thick; you could actually use only one coat if you wanted to (that's how thick it is), but two coats make the colors look absolutely phenomenal.
Though the colors are a bit different, they're all surprisingly flattering and perfect for summer. Here's a rundown of the shades in order from left to right.
Funky Dunky: This is a bright purple grape-esque shade--it actually has a neon/electric look to it. The picture doesn't really do it justice. I highly doubt anyone owns a shade of purple that even comes close to this.
What's With the Cattitude?: This is a gorgey sky blue shade. Exactly. There's no other way to put it. It's just simply pretty. And totally unexpected.
Rumple's Wiggin': This shade is very similar to the sky blue above in that it's a pastel shade that's adorable. It's a great color for anyone who usually is scared to try out colorful polish since it's so light. The shade is actually a tiny bit lighter than in the picture.
Who the Shrek Are You?: Okay. I have to be honest here. This shade literally looks like Shrek. I get that this is the "Shrek" collection, so of course this shade was expected to be in it. But I have to say, it's my least favorite in the collection. It's a yellow-based green that just didn't look good on me. But, it is certainly unique. If you're more daring than me, give it a go!
Ogre-The-Top Blue: Probably my favorite hue. It's electric, unexpected and gorgeous all at the same time. I know that for some of you ladies, this is more of a toenail polish for you--but I plan on bustin' it out on my fingernails for the world to see!
Fiercely Fiona: I normally don't like yellow polishes, but this one is a bit different. It's more of a "buttery" shade that's surprisingly flattering. It reminds me of buttered popcorn. Yum!
The whole collection is great. You can buy each bottle for about $8 at most salons. But lucky you--I found a deal on Amazon! Each bottle is marked down to $4.99! And they have a cute little mini polish set for $9.99.

Tokidoki Collection at Sephora!
Tokidoki is known for their adorable Japanese-inspired packaging, which I'm always a sucker for. But the products themselves are well-made and of good quality as well.
My fave products are the Cromatico Eyeshadow Palette in Diamante ($25), the Galleria Nail Files ($10), and their Toothcare Kit Mint Case ($5).
Just the fact that they have mints in their collection shows just how unique the line actually is. The mints are actually my fave product--it's an adorable case filled with mints. What more could you want? Well, I guess you might want makeup from a makeup collection...but still, it's super cute.
All of the Tokidoki products are only available for a limited time, so stock up asap!

Trend I'm Not Diggin': Sweatpants in Public
The look has been all over the runways--each designer showcasing a slightly different take on them.
I have two huge problems with this trend. One, I am totally disgusted by the idea of wearing sweatpants in public. It's basically a step above wearing pajamas while frolicking through the grocery store. It's just unacceptable and makes it look as if you've put no effort into your appearance.
The second issue is the fact that these designer sweatpants (that look just like regular sweatpants) cost a fortune! There are actually people spending hundreds of dollars on a pair of sweats just because they're "in".
I get that people like to be comfy. But just buy a comfy pair of jeans or something--this is ridiculous!

Victoria's Secret Sale Tops!
The prints are adorable, the straps are adjustable and they'd look great with a pair of denim capris. You can dress the tops up or down (a strand of pearls around your neck can do wonders).
Victoria's Secret often has lingerie that can double as groovy outdoor-wear. Check out that section of the site from time to time--you'll be surprised.
The best part about these camis? They're on sale for $16! Yippee!

Think Happy Thoughts with Happiology
The soy candles are great, as they are all natural. An added bonus is that soy candles actually last longer than other artificial candles. The tins are also recyclable and reusable. Pretty awesome, right?
The tins are adorable and perfect for summer. They've got all sorts of designs that really tickle my fancy, The Fashion Tins being my fave. The three scents that are available in the collection are all amazing. The scents are Bamboo & Agave, Sunshower and Yuzu Mint. Basically they all smell like summer to me. When I burned each of them, they reminded me of warm sunny days from when I was a kid playing in the backyard. Just a good, happy scent.
My favorite is Bamboo & Agave. I can't really pinpoint it, but there's something amazing about the scent and it's a little bit stronger than the others. However, all three are light and fresh. The cool thing is, they actually mesh well together, so you can burn all three together, or pick one to fill the room.
You can buy these candles for $14 each (for the fashion tins). And check out the rest of the site--there are oodles of other great-smelling goodies to be found!

The Perfect Tea Party Dress
Lulu's Spoonful of Sugar dress is just so...pretty. It's the prettiest dress I've seen in a while. It's super feminine and flattering for most body types. And, despite my whole tea party idea, it would actually work for about a million events.
The pattern is my fave part. It's simple, yet bold in its own way. Another great thing I need to point out, is that the dress has built in "reinforcement" ,ahem, for support. It's so tricky to find strapless dresses that offer support, so even without the pattern, I'd be on board.
You can pick up your own pretty little dress for $38.

Fashion Faux Pas: Wearing a Trash Bag as a Dress
Now I get that she's known for taking fashion risks. But wearing what seems to be a hefty bag does not make a great outfit. I thought that this was common knowledge, but clearly I was wrong.
The saddest part is that the garment was probably thousands of dollars. In all actuality, it's entirely made of expensive leather. If she wanted to take the whole "trash bag" look for a spin, she could have saved some cash and crafted her very own trash-chic dress for under $1.
Sigh. Even when you're as gorgeous as Miss Lopez, you can't pull off wearing a bag.
And P.S.: if anyone tells you that you'd look gorgeous "even if you wore a paper (or plastic) bag", they're lying.

My Latest Obsession: the Bagazine Clutch
The two things I love most in the world are handbags and magazines. So this is basically the best thing in the entire world. The colors are fab, and size-wise the bag is large enough to fit what you'd need for a night out, yet not oversized (which I hate in a clutch). It is so unique and interesting; all of your friends will want one.
I can't wait to bust this out the next time I go out with my gal pals. Though the colors are bright, I feel like the clutch will go with multiple outfits, as it contains such a large array of colors. It should be the focal piece of your outfit.
Each Bagazine is roughly $28 (from my conversion), and is totally worth it!

Little Black Dress for Under $7!!!
The dress is extremely flattering as well. Since it nips in at the natural waistline, it highlights the tiniest part of you. The sweetheart neckline looks great on anyone--and shows off your assets (hey, flaunt 'em if you got 'em).
If you need a little support, not to fear--this frock comes equipped with optional adjustable spaghetti straps.
How perfect is this??!!? I'm squealing with delight over here!!
Forever 21 is basically giving away this Satin Bustier Dress for $6.99.
Oh, and if you've already got a ton of LBDs and don't need another to add to your collection, it comes in other colors: Teal, Plum and Red. Do yourself a favor and pick one up before they sell out!

Panty Problems: Retailers Selling Dirty Underwear
After rumours (and some actual proof) about retailers doing this in the past, The Today Show decided to do a bit of research and found some disturbing--and just plain gross--results. Stores that they found selling used underwear included Walmart, Target, JCPenney and Marshalls. Walwart and Marshalls were even caught caught reselling used undies after they were returned without tags.
How disgusting is this??! I actually spend a lot of money in those stores (though admittedly not on panties). But the fact that they stoop this low makes me think so much less of them.
I for one will never ever buy any form of undergarment at any of these stores. If you choose to brave it, make sure to wash the items. Repeatedly!

Fashion Faux Pas: Huge Floral Hats
I can't stand these over-the-top floral "hats". They look more like a random bouquet stuck to your head than anything else...and really, who wants that?! WHO???!!!Sure, celebs can get away with practically anything and floppy floral hats are "acceptable" for them. I highly disagree with this. Maybe there are a few decent hats out there; I'm not against the possibility. But from what I've seen, everyone wearing a huge hat festooned with flowers looks like an idiot.
I saw this woman in Boston waiting for the T. Not impressed. Her whole entire outfit really needed a redo and I should have written out a fashion citation right on the spot. But the worse part was the huge flower hat!
Did she look in the mirror that morning and say to herself, 'gosh I look fabulous!', or does she just not care? Is this her normal springtime uniform? If it's a one-time fashion mistake, I still don't think this is okay...because no one should ever even own a hat like this!! Where can you even purchase something like this?
If for some ungodly reason you can't live your life without flowers on your head, please opt for a cute headband like this one from Forever21.
If I see anyone else wearing a hat like this, I will most likely punch them in the face. That's probably too aggressive. So I won't do that--but I'll be pissed off.
That is all.

Little Lost Shoe
And it was just sitting there.
I have so many questions:
- Is the owner prancing around Boston with only one shoe?
- Was this just some sort of "extra shoe" the owner happened to have (and if so, how did you pick which foot to have the extra shoe for?)
- Did you buy new shoes, wear them out of the store, and only discard one of the shoes you walked in with?
- Will a homeless man be eating this for dinner?
- Did the shoe run away from home?
But this?! I don't understand it. When I walked home that night, the shoe was gone. So I'm going with the idea that the shoe is a homeless man's dinner. So sad, no?

Sniff This: VS New Heavenly Flowers Fragrance (and a giveaway!)
I'm absolutely head over heels for this scent. I have a travel size sample that I've been carrying around everywhere for extra spritzes throughout the day. Let's just say that it's almost empty. But I've been getting oodles of compliments left and right. I would bathe in a bottle of this stuff if it were socially acceptable!
Here's what makes it so deliciously yummy: it's a sheer juicier and more enticing version of the original Dream Angels fragrance with a touch of luscious fruit and a blend of sun-splashed blossoms.
You can buy a bottle for $49.
They've also got this attention-getting, bright beautiful Solid Fragrance Bracelet for $20. And I'm giving one away to a lucky reader!!
To enter, send an email to sassyalana@gmail.com with the subject line reading "HEAVENLY FLOWERS BRACELET". The giveaway ends 5/23 and the winner will be alerted via email.
Good luck!

Not Your Average Flip Flop
But one thing can change all of that: a bow. How cute are these shoes? They're the perfect thing to throw on with a floral-print summer dress for any occasion. Sure, they're probably not black tie appropriate. But they're definitely blue bow-tie beautiful!

Salon Spotlight: Adara Spa
I found them by chance, as the office that I work at just so happens to be a few doors down. I always walked by, admiring the relaxing vibes the spa sent off, and finally one day I went in for a manicure (they do about 543574389 other things as well--check the site).
The place is adorable and is exactly what you'd want in a spa. It's cozy, smells amazing and the owners are super nice. It's such a relaxing place; I immediately felt at ease when I walked in. It's the perfect place to go for an after work treat, a spa day with the girls or anything in between!
As I've discussed before, my nails are ridiculously horrific. Seriously. It's highly embarrassing for me to have a professional look at them. That said, I gave in and by the time I left, I had actual real-people pretty nails!!! It was nothing short of a miracle.
Adara Spa has been kind enough to team up with me for a giveaway for my lovely readers--I have one bottle of OPI's Nail Envy, attached with nail wipes and polish remover. Honestly, you girls have to try this out for yourselves.
To enter, email me at sassyalana@gmail.com with the subject line "OPI NAIL ENVY". The giveaway ends 5/21 and the winner will be alerted via email.
The ladies there are amazingly sweet and you'll be hooked on the place after your first visit. Again, the spa is located at 115 Lewis Wharf in Boston. You can stop by, or give them a call to set up an appointment at 617-227-5499. Have any other questions? Email them at info@adaraspaboston.com.

A Utility Blade With Style
As a beauty/fashion writer, I'm constantly receiving packages in the mail of glorious makeup. And maybe a few other things that I order online (fine...a lot of things I order online). I'm also the clumsiest person in the world, so opening a package is quite the risk since I now do it with scissors and, well, I constantly cut myself.
So, the obvious solution is to get a knife. My boyfriend has one, but no--I'm an independent woman. I'll get my own knife, thank you very much. That said, I hate all the ugly black utility knives that are out there so much. We just don't gel.
This Flower Print Utility Blade is my savior. It does its job just splendidly, but more important, it's cute as a button.
You can get yourself a pretty blade for about $8.

Show the World What You REALLY Love
I'm totally into Fred Flare's Sweet Nothing Heart Necklace. Though the necklaces are heart shaped (which I do love), they are anything but romantic. You can choose what you want engraved on your necklace from 5 fab designs: in it to win it, fireworks, potato chips, warp speed and baby mama.
I'm a fan of the potato chip one myself, as I usually live on a diet of chips and ice cream, but they're all great and will make people look twice.
You can get your very own for $44.

Fashion Faux Pas: Return of the Man Purse (ish)
I know that this doesn't necessarily count as a "man purse" (it's more of a "man bag") but I still feel like it's the same idea.
I just happened to catch this guy in Boston the other day and...wow. He wasn't with anyone--he even sat down alone for a half hour and then got on a bus. Alone.
Yes, there is a small chance that this duffle bag belongs to someone he is meeting at his destination. But, chances are, it belongs to him as my intricate study suggests.
The odd thing is, he didn't look like a flamboyant gay man (not saying he isn't gay--I have no idea--he just wasn't flashy with it if he is). He looked like the average commuter just buying a treat for his ride home.
This is like a man bag to the extreme! I know that duffle bags are needed for travel, but there is a plethora of solid and printed man-acceptable bags out there. TONS!! I don't even see many women carrying stuff like this around.
I did some digging around and if you are a lady and love the bag, he is carrying around a Roxy duffle bag.
Please, men of America, don't carry any sort of bag with florescent writing or designs on it. I'm begging you.
That is all.

Cute Floral Skirt For Under $10!!
I've been hugely into skirts lately and this skirt fits the bill. While we're still waiting for summer, you could pair this with black or gray leggings. Actually, if you're brave enough, it'd look fab with some rose-hued leggings. It's also a great skirt all on its own for hot days.
I like the fact that it's denim; we've been seeing a lot of flowy fabric for spring and this is a nice change.
Oh, and it's $8.99. Yes, really.

Brighten Skin Just in Time for Spring!
Luckily Origins has just the ticket to having amazing skin immediately (and in time for spring!) Their Brighter By Nature high-potency brightening peel with fruit acids is my new fave product.
Now, first you have to understand that I have the most sensitive skin and eczema to boot. It's horrible. So most skincare products are a gamble for me. For reviews, I usually hand products over to my mom. But this product (as well as all of the other Origins products I've reviewed) didn't result in a bad reaction at all.
I noticed an immediate result after my first use--my skin actually looked like skin rather than a pile of play dough (which is always good). It looked a bit brighter and I actually did receive compliments after the second time I used it. My skin feels clean after use, which is what we should all look for in a product like this.
As with all Origins products, the smell is fabulous--a tiny bit fruity but not overwhelming.
You can buy the peel (with 40 pads/usages) for $37.50. But let me tell you ladies, it's worth it for the results!

Two Dresses in One--For $20!
Their new Reversible Dress in Floral Ditsy is my fave dress of the season. First of all, the dress is reversible, and both of the floral patterns are super cute. I don't necessarily like the way the model is wearing the dress--I'd belt it to create a waist and avoid that whole sack-like look.
I should probably come clean and just let you guys know that I bought this dress. And it's amazing. If you only buy one Spring/Summer dress, make it this one. The fabric is nice, and the dress is super flattering when worn with a belt cinched in at the waist.
Plus, I mean, it's basically two dresses! For $20! I double dare you ladies to find something as cute for that price.
The thing I like most about it, is that you can wear it for multiple occasions. It's fancy enough to wear for a cocktail party, but low-key enough to wear out and about on warm days no matter what you do.
You can grab this dress (or dresses, really) for $20 (oh, did I already mention that?!) at Target in stores, or online.

Fashion Faux Pas: Knockoff Crocs
Not only are Crocs still all over the place, now stores like Walmart and CVS have made their own versions of the hideous footwear--with the addition of lower prices and cheap material that falls apart easily.
Am I the only one outraged by this?? I walked into CVS the other day and was basically attacked by a display of "Doggers", their sad and depressing version of Crocs.
Something has to be done about this. I cannot keep being bombarded by these hideous plastic shoes everytime I go into a store to pick up new lipgloss. It totally ruins my entire trip and, dare I say, it harshes my mellow.
The sad part is, the Crocs brand itself has actually created some pretty fab shoes since their ugly clog days. Sure, they still sell the horrible monster of a shoe, but they've also got gems like this Crema pump that I happen to really like.
Please people. Don't wear knockoff Crocs. Don't wear anything plastic on your feet. It just isn't meant to be.

No One Will Know It's Not Chanel
Sure, you can go out and buy a knockoff for $50 in some creepy apartment in NYC's Chinatown (which I've done multiple times...oh the things I do for a cute handbag!) or you can do the complete opposite and get this fabulous Chanel-inspired tote from Forever21.
I think this tote bag is amazing. The drawn-on bag is adorably humorous. The bag is eco-friendly and holds a whole lot more than a tiny little Chanel bag would.
It's hilarious for a purse-obsessed person to wear, and it also works for people who hate cutesy purses, but love totes! It's a win-win!
The $5.80 price tag doesn't hurt either.
