The New Trench I'm Lusting After

Yes, it is quite unfortunate that freezing weather is here, yet again...I always seem weirdly surprised by this, even though it's the same issue every year.

Regardless, I am a fan of Fall fashion.

I found this super cute Laundry by Shelli Segal Trench Coat and immediately fell in love. How could I not?! It's literally the most outstanding coat I've seen in a while.

Some of the coat's stats:
  •     Machine wash
  •     Notch collar with hook and eye closure, asymmetric front zip with faux button front
  •     Belt at waist, two side zip pockets with flap detail
  •     Faux leather detail with yoke stitching, mid length
Bonus? The coat is currently on sale! Usually priced at a steep $229.00, you can now get it for $91.60! I'd say that's a pretty good deal, especially since it's the type of coat that's sure to get lots of wear and a ridiculous amount of compliments.

Things That Only Nail Polish Addicts Will Understand

Hi, my name is Alana. And I'm an addict. To nail polish.

I probably own about 200 different shades (even though my boyfriend claims that half of the pink hues I own look exactly the same--they don't).  But if you're reading this blog, chances are you understand where I'm coming from.

Here are a few nail polish facts that only polish enthusiasts will get:

1.) Your favorite day of the week is #ManiMonday.

2.) Colors are no longer "blue" or "purple." They're “Russian Navy” or “Lincoln Park After Dark.”

3.) Filling your refrigerator shelves with nail polish instead of milk is a perfectly acceptable organization strategy.

4.) You already know oodles of crazy facts about nail polish. (Yes, when it comes to different nail polish finishes, which you can also recite by heart.)

5.) You totally get Jennifer Lawrence's American Hustle character's obsession with the smell of her favorite topcoat. Even if you'll never admit it to anyone.

6.) Buying backups of polish shades you haven't used yet (but know you'll love) isn't crazy, it's planning for the future.

7.) People ask you if you feel okay when you wear the same shade of nail polish two days in a row.

8.) You frequently find "the one" (a.k.a. the perfect shade of polish), only to discover you already own several nearly identical shades at home— and you're not even a little bit mad. Because they're not the same, they're similar. Plus, you can never have to many gray-beige polishes.

9.) You let your nails "breathe" sans polish for the obligatory amount of time, but seriously contemplate not leaving the house on those days.

10.) You have thoughts (strong thoughts) about which polish is the best Essie shade ever created (the correct answer is Essie's Ballet Slippers, by the way.

Body Boo-Boo: Easting Charchol

Umm... yes. You read that correctly.  Apparently, loading your bod with charcoal is the latest fad for getting a slimmer figure.

Call me crazy, but I was under the impression that charcoal was not a good thing. Probably due to the fact that my parents raised me to believe that if I was naughty, Santa would leave me coal in my stocking. Just saying.

This isn't the first ridiculous weight loss concept that I've heard (remember the Barbie Pill?), but it's still quite bad.

Here are the details of this so-called diet.

According to Business Insider, people are now turning to activated charcoal as a health cure-all, in the hopes that it’ll do everything from “detoxing” their body (perhaps the most vague health concept of all time, right??!) to improving their skin, curing a hangover, and of course massive weight loss.

Never mind the fact that there is absolutely no scientific evidence to prove activated charcoal can achieve any of these benefits, or the fact that a quick Internet search proves that it’s usually only used to treat accidental poisonings or drug overdoses. Advocates say that the super-fine particles suck everything in your stomach to it—the problem is, doctors say it can suck out the good as well as the bad.

Sounds lovely, doesn't it?

Support Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Style!

Okay, so I have a little ulterior motive here. First, let me just say that I am all about supporting BCA month. It's a fabulous idea, and I love that my blog reaches others who might be able to help spread the word.

That said, it doesn't hurt that most of the BCA products are pink.

There. I said it.

If you haven't taken a gander at pinkEpromise, you really need to check it out immediately. They've got the most adorable products (their jewelry is to die for!) and the best part is that every product on the site donates proceeds to a Breast Cancer Foundation.  Believe it or not, but a lot of BCA-friendly products end up trying to trick you and barely donate anything at all.  But this is the real deal, ladies!

The prices are totally reasonable, and I'm literally in love with everything on the site.

LOVE PINK Fingerless Gloves ($11.95)

Pink Shimmer Necklace ($7.99)

Pink Shamballa Crystal Studs ($4.99)

All of the items on the site are super cute, so be sure to check it out for yourself!

Happy shopping!
