How to Avoid a Wardrobe Malfunction

Wardrobe malfunctions can put us in some extremely embarrassing and awkward situations. We've all been there. The worst part is that these malfunctions always "just happen" to occur at the absolute worst times-- I'm talking about when you're out on a date, interviewing for your dream job, or even at an awesome party where every single person you know is watching you.

But luckily there are a few things you can do to prevent looking like a crazed lunatic who knows nothing about fashion!

Make sure your clothes fit you well
It sounds simple, but this is very important. One of the major causes of wardrobe malfunctions are ill fitting clothes. While you might not always be able to tell at a first glance if a certain clothing item has the potential to cause an unwanted surprise, testing out a few dance movements can give you a pretty good idea of what could happen when you start moving around.  Seriously, try dancing around at home for a half hour in whatever you're planning on wearing out.  If your boobs stay in place, and everything else works, you're good to go!

Try layering
If you do decide to opt for a potentially risky item, try layering to minimize the chances of experiencing embarrassing moments.

Avoid deodorant stains
This is one of the worst and it happens to everyone. Using invisible, clear deodorant is a quick and easy fix you that becomes mandatory whenever you are in a situation where you cannot afford to make mistakes. This simple, yet overlooked trick can save you a lot of frustration.

Use nude undergarments
Even though most of us are pretty careful when it comes to selecting lingerie and to avoid fashion faux pas, at times this strategy can backfire. If you are preparing for a event, your best bet is to stick to nude undergarments as these will help you look your best and will allow you to be more relaxed. And if anything pops out, it'll be a LOT less noticeable than, say, a black bra with pink polka dots (even though they are cute!)

Bring a set of safety pins and nail polish
I always have an emergency fashion pouch in my purse. It's helped me out a ton over the years. Safety pins are a must-have. You can save multiple problems by just pinning a strap up, or even pinning a hem that's come undone. If you also carry clear nail polish in your purse you'll be able to prevent tights from running. Apply clear nail polish on both of the ends to minimize the damage before it extends too much.

Bring additional wardrobe
While all the tips should help you eliminate lots of situations that might take an embarrassing turn for the worst, it's best to bring additional clothing with you to be able to avoid stressing to much over your wardrobe and to make sure that everything goes well. Try keeping a simple jersy wrap dress in your car.  They don't really wrinkle and you can wear them no matter what the weather is, or how fancy (or un-fancy) an event is).

My Latest Obsession: the Schick Intuition f.a.b. Razor

When I first saw the Schick Intuition f.a.b. Razor, I was admittedly scared. Normal razors scare me; I'm simply accident-prone and can rarely shave my legs without cutting myself. So the idea of trying out this new razor, that promises to be able to shave up and down, terrified me. But it was a gift from my mom, and a thoughtful one at that, so I gave it a shot and I'm so glad I did!

This razor lives up to it's name--it is insanely fab! The razor somehow magically shaves forwards and backwards safely (the top blades shave up and the bottom blades shave down). I thought for sure that this would leave me with completely cut-up legs, but I've been using it for a month or so and haven't cut myself once. So it actually is safer than the average razor.

It's also a huge time saver. Since it shaves forwards and backwards, you can literally shave without lifting the razor from your skin. It works super quickly and leaves you with amazingly soft legs.

Look at those blades!
The razor also has a great rubber handle that allows you to get a good grip while you shave, which I really appreciated. I don't know if it's just me, but countless times, I've had razors practically jump out of my hand. The handle is a nice bonus.

Ladies, you seriously need to give this thing a try!

Each f.a.b. razor retails for about $9.

NEW Fab Palette From Hard Candy!

If you've ever read this blog before, you know how obsessed I am with eyeshadow palettes! And Hard Candy has been a fave makeup brand of mine, ever since Walmart started carrying their products. The quality is always amazing, and the price is incredibly affordable.

Hard Candy's latest must-have product is their Rose Gold Palette. It's actually very similar to a MUCH more expensive one--the HUDA Rose Gold Palette (which retails for a whopping $65).

The shadow shades are all phenomenal. This palette is just bursting with fun, yet seasonal colors that, as far as I can tell, are flattering for all skintones. It offers up both matte and shimmer shades that are just to die for. Shimmer is my kryptonite, so those shades are officially my latest obsessions.

Included in the set are two double-ended brushes, which are actually of great quality (unlike most brushes that come with a palette). This is great for someone who either doesn't have the brushes necessary for eyeshadow application, or even for someone who just wants to try out something new. The brushes I personally love are the flat packing brushes and the liner brush. They both pick up a lot of the highly-pigmented hues and apply fabulously. They are also just small enough to apply the colors exactly where you want them--especially the liner brush.

The shades are buildable, so if you're looking for a sheer look, you can get it. But if you're like me and like to really pack a punch with your shadow, that is definitely possible without much work.

I'm just in love with this palette! There isn't even more to even say!

Each set retails for $10. Not bad, especially considering how much its competition is!

Happy shopping!

My Kimono Obsession

For the past year or so, I've been really lusting after kimonos from all over the place. I just love throwing them on, no matter what the weather is like or what I'm doing. I recently lost a huge chunk of my wardrobe, so as I've been rebuilding it, I'm finding more and more that kimonos really do go with everything (regardless of how much my mom wants to make fun of me for wearing them--haha!).

Target's Embroidered Mesh Kimono is something that I desperately need to add to my collection. It's perfect for the season--not too heavy, but perfect to throw on when it gets a little chilly. The embroidered flowers are also gorgeous and are actually really in style right now.

This kimono is great to dress up or down. You could pair it with some jeans and a bright colored tank top for a casual day, or dress it up with black leggings, a dark cami, and a few bold jewelry pieces.

Each kimono retails for $39.99. I think that's a steal for how much it will end up being worn.

Find Your Match: Victoria's Secret's New Summer Angel Bra

Nude-hued bras usually have one huge problem: they rarely match anyone's actual skintone. As a super pale gal with pink undertones, I don't think I've ever owned a bra that came close to matching me. And I know I'm not alone!

So, when I saw Victoria's Secret's new Summer Angel Perfect Coverage Bra, I was intrigued. Not only does the bra look super comfy and perfect, as its name suggests, but it also comes in a wide variety of nude colors. I counted at least ten that could be considered a skintone color.

I just love this! Everyone deserves to own a nude bra that they can wear with everything and I'm loving that it's available in so many different colors!

Much like choosing a foundation shade, you can go through the different fabric swatches and find the best nude for you.

Below are all the color swatches the Summer Angel bra is currently available in:

That's quite a selection. Even the colors that aren't technically "nude" are still neutral enough to go with anything.

The bra itself also looks amazing. It utilizes a new ultra-light and breathable Air Secret technology that keeps you cool, which is perfect for the upcoming months of crazy humidity. Each bra also has support with soft-touch cups to make your shape look its sexiest and most flattering.

This is definitely a bra that all ladies should own.

You can purchase each one for $39.50, or buy two for $70. And we all know I'm a sucker for a deal, so I'll probably do a nude hue and Frosted Blueberry (the greyish blue tone that looks absolutely gorge).

Looking for a matching pair of panties? Of course you are! Victoria's Secret's Angel Hiphugger Panty comes in a few different nudes so you can have a set. Each pair is $10.50, or you can buy five for $28.

Happy shopping and enjoy finding your perfect match!

You Need This Now: Weleda Skin Food

You know it's springtime when I blog a bunch about my latest skincare products. I always feel like skin needs a jump start this time of year. If you're anything like me, season changes effect your skin. Living in New England can be hellish for that reason.

Your skin might not be as extremely sensitive and dry as mine is, but I'm guessing now is a great time to give it an extra boost.

The latest skincare product I've been using is Weleda Skin Food. This stuff is seriously amazing. I have to give credit to my mom on this one--she found out about the product, did the research, and even bought me a tube!

Skin Food is a unique, ultra-rich whole-body and face cream. I actually love using it on my face the most. It deeply hydrates, restores, and protects skin with nourishing plant oils and extracts. The essential fatty acids and vitamin E in organic sunflower seed oil take care of all your dry skin woes. Though it is a moisturizing cream, it does not clog pores or turn your face into a greasy acne party. I don't know how it's even possible for something to be this moisturizing without pore congestion. It's just magical!

The cream also works very quickly. You'll notice a difference in your skin's texture after the first use.

I honestly cannot say enough good things about Skin Food! It lives up to it's name. It's that essential. And trust me, you need a tube no matter what your skin type is.

Each tube retails for under $10. I would gladly pay double that for a product this good, so it's a great deal.

Keep your skin lookin' fabulous!

Looking For Some Super Cute Spring Sneakers?

I have to be honest--I'm completely obsessed with Maurice's. If you've read this blog before, you probably know that by now. I've always been a fan of their clothing and boots, but this season I'm absolutely loving their cute sneakers!

My top pick? The Macy Floral Print Canvas Sneakers.

Of course the pattern is what initially drew me in--as usual, floral prints are very in style for spring. The background of the pattern makes the shoes perfect to wear with jeans for the ultimate comfy, cool outfit.

The sneakers are canvas with an elastic-banded heel to keep them on. It's helpful for me, since my feet are so ridiculously small, but I imagine it would help anyone who is inbetween a size, or is just looking for that perfect fit.

But the best thing about these kicks is the fact that you don't even have to tie them! They slip right on and you're good to go. They're almost like a hybrid of a flat and a sneaker in that way.

Each pair is $24, which I think is perfect for a pair of sneakers to get your springtime look jumpstarted.

Triple Mask Kits from Yes To For Under $4!

When springtime hits, I really like to spend some time getting my skin at it's healthiest. Gone are the days of dry, cracked skin (well, hopefully!), and after a little TLC, I know my skin will be looking fabulous, mostly thanks to the Yes To Mask Products.

My latest love from them is their Triple Masking Kit. It comes in a few different sets, but I personally love the one that helps calm, detox, and give a glowy boost. It's a great way to jumpstart your skincare routine and get everything feeling super smooth and healthy.

You can use these packs in a few different ways--either all at once, one at a time, or even use a dab at a time for spot treatment.

Of course I tried them all at once, and the result was amazing. My overly sensitive skin was not irritated at all by any of the masks, and it was left feeling soft and ready for anything!

Each of the kits retails for $3.99, but you're really getting three masks, so it's a pretty fantastic deal.

Make your skin happy and give these a try!

Fab Frocks From Matilda Jane!

There's nothing I love more than learning about a new brand. Most recently, I've become obsessed with Matilda Jane, thanks to their fantastic Trunk Keeper Heidi Young. She has a passion for selling all things pretty that truly sets her apart from other sellers.

The brand has clothing for girls, tweens, and women. It's basically a one-stop shop for fashion. I think it's perfect for a busy mom who wants to do all her shopping in the simplest way, without losing that boutique feel. But really, it's great for anyone who just wants to look fabulous.

The foundation of Matilda Jane is what makes it different from other online shops. The founder created the company to support her philanthropy efforts. The company is involved with multiple charity organizations, which I think is incredible. I always love companies that are more than just beautiful clothing, and Matilda Jane fits the bill. What's better than wearing beautiful things and giving back at the same time?

Pictured above, I'm sporting Matilda Jane's Kookaburra Top . I am so in love with it! It's lightweight and airy, making it the perfect top for Spring. The pattern is what drew me in initially. I'm totally loving it's chic, vintage vibe. "Groovy" is the one word I would use to describe it. I can guarantee that I'll be practically living in this for the entire season. And, let's be serious, probably for several seasons to come.

The top retails for $58. That might seem a little steep, but honestly the quality is amazing and I'd probably pay double that for a gorgey top like this anywhere else.

Check out Heidi's online store and her Facebook page for more info and loads more pretty clothing!

My New Obsession: Hard Candy's Fox in a Box

Hard Candy is one of my favorite makeup brands. Their products work as well as most high-end lines, but they're extremely affordable.

My latest love is their Fox in a Box powder--a collection of five marbleized, baked powders inspired by different moods and personalities. Each box has a different custom-blended shade and fragrance. They're packaged with a scratch n’ sniff sticker so you can sniff before you buy. How cute is that?!

The five shades are:

Girl Boss - a pretty pale gold highlighter with a vanilla frosting scent
Glamour Girl - a peachy highlighter with a pina colada scent
Party Girl - a bronzer with a chocolate scent
Girl Next Door - a pearly pink blush with a strawberry scent
Uptown Girl - a shimmery peachy blush with a sweet peach scent

I love all the hues, but Glamour Girl is my favorite. It makes a great highlighter, even on my super pale skin. I'd actually say that the whole collection is great for people with a fair complexion.

All of the powders apply super smoothly, and are well-pigmented. They're also the perfect size to throw in your purse, for touch-ups on the go. Plus the boxes are so cute that you'll want to apply them in public!

Each box is $7--an amazing price for what you get. You can find them at your local Walmart, or online here.

Happy shopping!

Janlitlfeather Peacock-Themed GIVEAWAY!

Feathers always make me feel extra fancy and fabulous. So when I came across Janlitlfeather, I was super psyched! The brand features loads of gorgeous feather items, many of them hand-painted, and I'm honestly obsessed.

Janlitlfeather and Sassy Fashionista teamed up for a unique giveaway: a pair of stunning peacock earrings and a matching peacock bowtie. They'd look great worn on a couple, or split up and worn separately.

The earrings are Janlitlfeather's The Star of the Show earrings--probably because that's what they are! They are definitely a statement, but also can go with a casual outfit. They're surprisingly versatile, which is always a plus. The earrings are something you can easily wear with virtually anything, so I wouldn't be surprised if these were your new go-to baubles. They retail for $24.99.

Bowties are classy and are in style in a big way. Janlitlfeather's Blue Peacock Feather Bowtie is utterly chic. It would look fantastic on either a man or a woman, and much like the peacock earrings, it goes with quite a bit. Each bowtie retails for $39.99.

Both pieces are simply stunning--I'm a little bit sad about sending them away! One lucky reader will win both items, so give them a good home!

To enter the giveaway, simply send an email to with the subject line reading "PEACOCK". The giveaway ends on 4/4 and the winner will be alerted via email.

Good luck, loves!

Be sure to check out Janlitlfeather for even more fantastic pieces!

A Vintage Trinket Box GIVEAWAY!

Ever since I was little, I always played with my grandmother's jewelry. I've always loved all things vintage and that's why I'm sharing this gorgeous piece with you!

VINTAGEJOOLSFORYOU is a beyond fabulous online shop for all things vintage, including this amazingly gorgeous Trinket Box that the shop owner has sent me to use for a giveaway!

The site itself is run by a woman who is super passionate about what she sells. She has always been drawn to vintage pieces (much like myself!) and shares her love with her customers. She definitely has a flair for choosing the right pieces.

When I was sent this utterly fabulous trinket box, I was immediately in love. Especially once I heard the story behind it. In the words of the shop owner:

The trinket box was acquired quite some time ago at Hudson’s Department Store, which at that time, was the largest Department Store in the world and the flagship store in Detroit, Michigan, of the  J. L. Hudson Company.  Acquired, from an estate sale, I was drawn to its elegant, regal appearance and fantasized that it had been the home of a very special precious jewel.

Pretty impressive, no?

To enter the giveaway, simply send an email to with the subject line reading "VINTAGE JOOLS". The giveaway ends February 20th and the winner will be alerted via email.

Good luck, ladies!

Be sure to check out the shop, VINTAGEJOOLSFORYOU, online for more fantastic pieces!

There's Still Time to Order: Valentine's Day Earrings From Betsey Johnson

Without a doubt, Betsey Johnson has the best earrings. Hands down, no argument. So when I saw that Macy's can still deliver items by Valentine's Day, I had to write a post to let you fabulous readers know!

The pictured earrings, Betsey's Rose Gold-Tone Pink Stone, Glitter Heart & Imitation Pearl Mismatch Drop Earrings are my fave. Why?
1.) They're pink.
2.) They're hearts.
3.) They've got bling.

I'm sure there are a plethora of reasons why I love them other than that, but those are the big ones.

The only downer is that they're a little pricey for my taste; over $50.

But don't fret! Betsey has many other heart earrings ripe for the picking. Another pair I love is pictured below:
They're called her Rose Gold-Tone Crystal Heart Stud Earrings. I just love these because they're unique enough to tell Betsey designed them, yet subtle enough to wear with anything. The price isn't bad either at $25.

Even if you don't want to do a whole Valentine's Day thing, both sets are super gorgeous and you probably need them. Just sayin'.

Happy shopping!

Hard Candy is Launching a New Plumping Lip Gloss and I'm Obsessed!

I loved Hard Candy in the 90s, when it was re-released a few years ago, and now. Their products are incredible, and the prices are very reasonable. You're getting designer makeup at a Walmart price.

In February, Hard Candy is launching a new Plumping Serum and I'm super excited! If you've ever read this blog, you know how much I love lip products. Probably too much. I may have a problem.

Regardless of my lip gloss addiction, I was lucky enough to get to try the new product before its release, and I'm officially OBSESSED! I was already a fan of their old Plumping Serum Lip Gloss, so I didn't know what to expect. When I tried it and applied the product to my very thin lips, I immediately knew something was different. I felt a nice tingle and my lips looked beyond fabulous. I tried the Love Child hue, which is a dark pink with a touch of mauve. It basically is a color that looks like my natural lip color, only much better. I really love all the new colors as well.

I also felt like the gloss applied easier than the one that's currently on the shelves. The applicator is better--it really aids in making the gloss apply smoothly.

Below is a picture of the new colors that will be available:

This amazing new gloss will be sold at Walmart in February as part of Hard Candy's Spring collection. Each gloss will retail for $6. I think that's an amazing price for what you get! And it's worth the wait!

Happy shopping!

Fashion Faux Pas: Designer Crocs (Yes, Really)!

I can't believe how many times I've written about my hatred of Crocs. Yet somehow, they keep popping up. The latest being on various Spring 2018 runway shows, all blinged out.

The main offender? Balenciaga sent Crocs down the runway with its own high-fashion spin on the gardening shoe: adding a super-high platform and some “Balenciaga” charms. Needless to say, no amount of bling can hide the ugliness of these shoes.

Crazily enough, Balenciaga wasn’t the only brand to embrace the hideous plastic clunker: UK designer Christopher Kane offered a crystal-encrusted version, while Maison Margiela sold a $1,200 studded one.

I don't even have the adequate words to describe how horrified I am. This is ridiculous!

If you've got a minute, do a search on this blog for "Crocs", and you'll easily see how much I hate them in general. But designer Crocs?! It sounds like a joke. I can't imagine designers thinking that bedazzled, ugly shoes would help sell their garments. And then to sell them for over $1,000?! WHAT??! I wouldn't spend that amount on gorgeous shoes, let alone purchase one of these offensive pairs for that price.

Can we just all agree that Crocs are over? I can't go on with these hideous shoes in the world!

That is all.

Everyone Needs a Pop of Glitter!

It's no secret that I'm a shimmer and glitter addict. It has gotten to the point where when any of my friends see something glitter-related, they immediately send it to me. But, God I love it!

If there's anything I love as much as glitter, of course it's lip gloss. The two together? sublime!

Eyes Lips Face has an incredible Pop of Glitter Gel that really has everything I could possibly want in a makeup product. It's sold as a product for use over the face in multiple areas, and while I can see that some of the hues would work for that, It's a bit much for moi in the shade I love.

I'm obsessed with the Rose Gold tint. To the point where I feel like I should stock up on it. Being super pale, it's just the perfect hint of color (and glitziness, of course) for my complexion. I
Rose Gold Pop of Glitter Gel
haven't been brave enough to try it anywhere but my lips, but I imagine it'd make a great blush or highlighter, depending on your skintone.

Next, I think I'd like to try a lighter color as a highlighter and maybe the gold tone for my eyes. I think it'd look fabulous, but probably not all at once!

What makes this product so special is it's staying power. To test it out, I wore it alone on my lips for an entire night out and only once did I have to reapply. And even then, it looked fine, I just assumed I needed more! I've probably tried roughly 4573895 lip products, and even the ones that promise to last aren't nearly as great as this gel.

Even though it's technically a glitter product, I'd say the gel has more of a shimmer to it. I mean, much as I love glitter, I'm in my 30s and chunky glitter lip products probably are not longer age-appropriate. But this stuff is seriously amazing.

And for $4, how can you go wrong?!

My New Favorite Pants!

I can never say enough good things about Maurices! They always have tons of stuff that I lust over, and more importantly, everything fits my short, curvy frame. If you haven't shopped there, you are truly missing out.

Their pants are particularly amazing--most of my jeans are from Maurices, understandably. But the other day, I was in the store actually trying to find another pair of jeans (I've been kind of in a jeans rut), and the sales associate pointed out THE BEST PANTS IN THE WORLD.

Their DenimFlex Jeggings in Blue Jasmine are just perfect. I normally don't gravitate towards jeggings, in fact I believe there's a post on this site about how much I hated them years ago. But these are different. They're almost like a hybrid of jeggings and jeans; the best of both worlds!

When you wear these, they almost have a dark denim look to them, so they seriously match everything.

I've also had a problem with certain pants that I wear that I can only get a good hour out of because they stretch too much. Not a problem with these pants. They do have stretch, but they are not nearly as stretchy as other items I've tried. If you're concerned about this, go a size down from what you would usually wear to avoid having to pull up your pants every five minutes. That's never fun.

You can also buy the jeggings (I hate using that word!) in several other colors. I just happen to love the blue, but they all look stunning.

Maurices does tend to have some pretty pricey jeans, but these little beauties were a mere $34!

Happy shopping, ladies!

The Prettiest Way to Detangle Your Hair

I have to give my lovely mom credit--she got me some pretty amazing gifts for Christmas. But one of my absolute faves is the Bella and Bear Brush on You Detangler Brush and Comb. The comb is great, but mainly I'm obsessed with the brush.

I know I've written about my hair struggles, but just in case you're a first time reader, my hair is ridiculously thick, wavy, frizzy, and I usually cannot get a brush to go through it. So the fact that this worked for me means that it can work for pretty much anyone out there!

First of all, how pretty is the brush?! It also comes in it's own drawstring bag in a matching fabric, so of course that's something I'm in love with.

The brush has firm, but not harsh, cone-shaped bristles without any sort of end bead, so you get a brush that easily glides through your tangles and stimulates your scalp at the same time. Also, The curved design of the brush fits perfectly in your hand, so you're not fighting with it for hours (much like my previous brushes). You can use it on wet hair, which is fabulous, but it also works well on dry hair.

Each detangling brush is under $15. Quite a steal compared to some others I've seen!

Happy shopping!
