Adorable Winter Hat

I've been looking for a super cute winter hat for a while now...and given that it's now almost Christmas and I still don't have one really says something!

I found this little delight and it made my day.  This Kate Spade Ski Goggle Hat is almost too cute for words. It makes shopping for winter hats about a million times easier and more fun.

The only downside is that each hat is $75.  I know--huge bummer. There's still time before Christmas if someone wants to get me one *wink, wink*!

Looking for Funky Wrapping Paper?

I love wrapping gifts, so Christmas is always fun for me.  It's at the point where I usually tend to wrap every single little gift individually.  But I really like to be unique with my wrapping.  I mean really--who wants a plain gift wrapped in snowmen or Santa patterns?

That's where this amazing Bacon Gift Wrap from Fred Flare comes in.  I'm so in love with this.  First of all, the colors are actually quite Christmas-y.  So, you can't really say that it isn't perfect for wrapping up that fab sweater you got for your mom.  Secondly...it's bacon. Ummm...how could you not love this??!

Not only is the gift wrap a gift to the person receiving the gift, it's also a gift for you to be able to wrap with something so crazily awesome.

Two 20" X 30" sheets are $8. Definitely a deal you can't pass up.

Did I mention that it's friggin' BACON GIFT WRAP??!

The Perfect Winter Blazer

I've always been a blazer girl.  I've got about 15 of them, but I can always do with more.  They're perfect for just about any occasion and always manage to look totally chic.

My latest blazer obsession is this fab Frayed Boucle Blazer from Metrostyle.  I only got it about a week ago and already it has migrated to the very front of my closet.

What I really like about this jacket is that it can be dressed down with a pair of jeans, or dressed up with a great holiday cocktail dress.  The details of the blazer make it unique and simply gorgeous without going over the top.  The edges are frayed, but also have a great metallic silver trim.  It's fully lined and super comfy.

The best part?  The blazer is currently on sale for under $60! Totally worth it for such a high-quality, versatile jacket.

My Grandma's Got Skillzz!

So, I've been staying at my gram's house for a bit and it's really great because I get to witness amazing beauty techniques such as this. I am proud to say that my grandma can actually curl her hair with a hot curling iron without looking in a mirror and can even watch home decorating shows at the same time for tips.  PLUS, she's in a rocking chair and actually rocking back and forth in it.

Now I can definitely multi-task with some things, and I've been known to apply eyeliner in some not-so-safe conditions, but seeing my gram do this, really shows me where I got a huge chuck of my beauty habits from!

In all actuality, I don't even think I'd be able to pull this off--chances are I'd burn myself multiple times (which already constantly happens even when I've got a mirror right in front of me), or I'd curl something the wrong way.

So, kudos to my gram for her ageless multi-tasking beauty techniques!!

Looking for a Unique Jewelry Piece? Check out Vella Mode (P.S.: There's a GIVEAWAY!!!)

When I first stumbled upon Vella Mode jewelry, I was incredibly impressed.  The pieces created are absolutely gorgeous and definitely are the statement piece of any outfit.
Each piece is handmade and unique, which makes for the perfect gift for anyone on your list (even yourself!). These are all one of a kind creations, made out of recycled glass. The outcome is simply stunning.

I've got one gorgeous necklace to give away (pictured).  This particular necklace is from the Evella Collection and is16 inches long.  It is constructed with recycled coke glass, 14k gold plated floral decor and a long tear drop amber glass bead.  The chain is rhodium.

Personally, I'd wear this piece with a simple black outfit--maybe even a little black dress for holiday parties? But I have a feeling that it'd look fab with nearly anything.

Fashion Faux Pas: The Snowman Vest

It's that time of year again...I've been seeing holiday-themed sweaters and vests everywhere I go and I've had to fight the urge to puke all over the place multiple times.  And mind you, it's only December 1st!

I feel like every year I need to announce the fact that it is not okay to wear any sort of clothing with holiday-themed doodads on it.  Because clearly people are still not listening to me.

This particular vest is just asking for it. I mean, come on!! Snowmen and Christmas trees living in harmony, skiing on a BRIGHT red vest? Never even mind the fact that the neckline is trimmed in fuzzy pile.

This is not okay to wear. Ever. even if you are over the age of 80, please avoid this at all costs.

If, for some ungodly reason you actually like this vest, be my guest and spend the $20 or so on it at Sears.  But good luck actually getting it. Because for some horrifying reason, the vest is actually sold out. Ugh.

New OPI Burlesque Collection!

OPI's latest collection, Burlesque, is as glam as can be.  Each shade uniquely ads a punch of color to any look and are flattering on most skin tones.  The collection is divided in half--half are actually glitter shades and the rest are shimmer hues.  Either way, these polishes are definitely for ladies who want to stand out!

Colors in the Burlesque Collection include (from left to right, top to bottom): Simmer & Shimmer, a glittery blue; Show It & Glow It, a glittery fuchsia; Sparkle-icious, a glittery multicolor; Let Me Entertain You, a metallic fuschia; Ali’s Big Break, a metallic red; Tease-Y Does It, a metallic burgundy; Bring On The Bling, a glittery gold; Glow Up Already, a glittery green; Extra-Va-Ganza, a glittery orange; Rising Star, a metallic gold; Take The Stage, a metallic burnt orange; and, The Show Must Go On, a metallic pink.

How gorgey are these colors??!

Personally, I LOVE them all and find them perfect for the holiday season. The OPI Holiday 2010 Burlesque Collection is available now at leading salons and Ulta stores. Each bottle retails for $8.50.

Cough Cough

Hi Ladies!

So this past week has been filled with tissues galore and nights of inscecent coughing. NOT fun.  But I know you all must be waiting for Christmas gift ideas and for some more fashion rants, and I promise to deliver once my brain can actually work for more than five minutes.

Just off the top of my head, I have some great reviews that I should be okay enough to write up this week: Harajuku Lovers fragrance, two new OPI collections...tons of fun stuff.

But I'm off for another nap! Stay fab!

Harajuku Lovers Go Wicked

As a girl who always first judges a fragrance by its bottle, it's no surprise that I've been lusting after the Harajuku Lovers scents for a while.  These little cuties have changed their look to express their "wicked" style and I have to say, I love it! The scents themselves have also been altered a bit to go along with the fab new look.

Per usual, my fave fragrance is Love. A fruity floral of nectarine and orange flower, Love is showing off her sweet side with a classic bodice red jumper dress trimmed in lace and a large bow clip. Paired with a tulle petticoat underneath, an adorable mini top hat over her purple hair, and cute dolly Lolita “rocking horse” shoes, Love looks as innocent as can be.

All of the scents are totally fabulous, and tese little ladies are only arouned for a limeted time! So hope over to anywere where fine persume is sold (Sephora has bottles ranging from$30-$45).

Make sure to follow the gang @HarajukuLover_G or on Facebook here: http://on.fb.me/WickedStyleFB.

WEN Replenishing Treatment Mist GIVEAWAY!

If you know me at all, you know that I have super dry skin (and hair).  I can usually be seen slathering on some sort of moisturizing cream, but I can't very well walk around in public and do that.

That's where WEN's Replenishing Treatment Mists come in. They're perfect for hair and skin and just seem to give everything a little pick-me-up (which is exactly what I need since it's basically pitch black out at 3pm now and my internal clock is going crazy!)

The product can be used to refresh and hydrate hair between washings, or on the body for the same purpose.  Probably its best use, to me, is that it works amazingly on the face and actually helps set makeup.

There are three fragrances available, all of which smell clean, fresh and fabulous: Fig, Sweet Almond Mint, and Lavender. I have to admit, the Sweet Almond Mint scent is my fave--the mint really seems to wake up and renew my senses.

I have one bottle of each to giveaway to a few lucky readers!

To enter the giveaway, send an email to sassyalana@gmail.com with the subject line reading "WEN" and specify which scent you'd like.  The giveaway ends 11/24 and the winner will be alerted via email.

Good luck, ladies!

Sniff This: Aramis Impeccable

I usually don't write about men's fragrances on here, but the holidays are coming up and cologne is a great gift to get for your stud muffin!

One that I really like is Aramis Impeccable, the black tie fragrance from Estée Lauder.  Of course, I'm a sucker for packaging and I absolutely love the minimalistic look of the bottle. The deep black bottle and the brushed gold (not to mention the classic lettering), make this bottle timeless.

Now, for those of you who aren't as crazily obsessed with packaging as me, let's move on to the actual scent! I had my boyfriend give it a try and he liked it, though he did mention that it smelled a little like pine to him upon first spritz. That's not necessarily a bad thing, and it was much less noticeable as the day wore on.  The actual scents used are a lovely mix of moroccan cedar wood, black pepper, juniper berries and citrus zest.

The cologne did last all day, which is a huge plus--no extra sprays needed--and was immediately something I was personally drawn to.  I'd say that it's seductive and and sophisticated.
Aramis Impeccable is a limited edition 3.7 oz Eau de Toilette Spray and will be available nationwide in Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Lord & Taylor, Belk, and Dillard’s mid / late November 2010. The suggested retail price is $55.

Sonia Kashuk Travel Duffle GIVEAWAY!!!

Bethenny Frankel (of Bethenny Getting Married and the Real Housewives of NYC) was recently spotted carrying this adorable weekender tote.  It's gotta be some sort of ridiculously expensive designer bag, right? Nope, it's a Sonia Kashuk Travel Duffel from Target.

The bag is super cute and comes with three clear cosmetic bags that conveniently velcro inside.  This is the perfect bag for a weekend away, or just to tote your stuff around if you're like me and live out of your handbag.

The pattern on this bag is great--retro style in fab colors that go with virtually any outfit.

I have one of these chic celeb "it" bags to give to a very lucky reader!

To enter the giveaway, send an email to sassyalana@gmail.com with the subject line reading "SONIA KASHUK DUFFLE".  The giveaway ends 11/13 and the winner will be alerted via email.

Online Store Love: Metrostyle

I'm great at procrastinating. I don't really consider online shopping procrastinating exactly since I write about fashion, but it's definitely something I spend a lot of time doing.

One of my new fave online stores is Metrostyle.  They've got the best clothing around, and the prices are insanely reasonable. You can view all the latest trends and also find loads of classic looks at the same time.
I'm overly obsessed with almost everything on the site, but what really tickles my fancy is this fabulous Inset Sheath ($39.99).  First of all, it's just a gorgeous dress. And it's only about $40. But I'm mainly in love with the look itself.  It has a bit of rocker chic to it, while being classically-cut at the same time.  This is a flattering dress for nearly anyone; the side panels instantly slim the body and give you the perfect hourglass figure.  And really...who wouldn't want that?

Accessory-wise, the site has baubles, handbags and shoes galore. How amazing are these Stud and Chain Boots ($59.99)??! So stylish and versatile--I need a pair like yesterday. These boots would need to be the focal point of an outfit. I'd pair them with some skinny jeans and a solid color tee myself. The shoes just deserve to have the spotlight.

So check out the site and find your own favorite fashion finds! And be on the lookout for a giftcard giveaway soon!!

Coming Up: Review of CSN Stores!

Have any of you ladies heard of CSN Stores? They basically have everything you could possibly need, from coffee tables to fabulous shoes and accessories.  And of course, they've got some amazing handbags (ahh, my weakness!!)

It's the easiest way to shop--everything's in one place! Pretty cool, no?  You can also sort by price--which pretty much rocks for anyone like me who severely lacks in the money department!

My fave find so far is this Murval Lbiza Leopard Scarf (it's only $14.99!) Exploring the site is so much fun--I could probably spend hours checking out their deals.

So watch for a post in the future; I'll be reviewing a product from CSN Stores!

Need a Skin Boost? Origin's VitaZing Does the Trick!

So it's no secret that I'm basically in love with every Origins product out there.  Everything I've tried so far has been of the best quality and doesn't harm my very sensitive skin.

So it's no surprise that Origin's latest product, VitaZing, has me jumping up and down with glee. The product is a morning moisturizer that simply makes your skin look fabulous.  It gives skin a refreshing boost of antioxidant-rich Mangosteen. It also adds a healthy hit of radiance that mimics the glow you get from a week’s vacation. All in 10 seconds max.

This is the perfect moisturizer to throw on after a night of partying.  It restores your skin's beauty and even adds to it.

There's the tiniest bit of a tint to it that is flattering on most skintones (even my ridiculously pale skin).  It's also got SPF15 which is always important, regardless of the season.

And of course the best part is that it really seemed to hydrate my skin without leaving behind any sort of oily residue or anything gross.  Honestly? This stuff makes my heart go aflutter!

You can buy your own tube (and I highly suggest you do) for $35--it's totally worth it.

Fabulous Stila Palette on the Cheap!

Ummm...can we just take a second to discuss how excited I am about this palette?! First of all, Stila's eyeshadows are by far my favorite. If I ever "treat" myself, I'll buy an eyeshadow pan (usually in Kitten --a cult favorite) for a whopping $20.

Stila's Color Wheel Eye Shadow Palette includes 37 eye shadow shades, a mirror, 2 double-ended eye shadow brushes and a 16-page Look Book with photographs of top models in the various Color Wheel looks. The Look Book also features Stila Pro Artists' tips & tricks and detailed, easy to follow step-by-steps instructions.

The colors look great.  I even see one that looks like Kitten (I'm crossing my fingers here). The palette is a $558 value--seriously, and is selling right now for $38.

I can't wait to try this out! Anyone with me??

Lip Gloss for a Cause! (AND ANOTHER GIVEAWAY!!!)

Most of you probably already know that I buy almost every color and type of lip gloss in the word.  So it's no surprise that I'm in love with Revlon's new Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Pink Pursuit.

The color is fab on everyone.  The shade is a flattering sheer pink with a little gold shimmer to it, so it actually works with both warm and cool skintones.  Plus, it's sheer enough to apply sans mirror (which is a huge help since I probably reapply 5793743 a day no matter what).  At the same time, the gloss gives enough color to make your lips pop!

I've always been a fan of Revlon's glosses to begin with.  They're never sticky, definitely moisturizing and don't tend to wear off quickly.

10% of sales of the Pink Pursuit hue will be donated to the fight against breast cancer.  The gloss will have the breast cancer ribbon on the wand to distinguish it from existing shades.

So beautiful lipgloss for a great cause? I'm in. You can find a tube of your own at most drugstores for about $7.

Oh, and did I mention that I have FIVE of these pretty lippies to give away to five lucky readers?  Well, I do.

To enter the giveaway, send an email to sassyalana@gmail.com with the subject line reading "PINK PURSUIT".  The giveaway ends 10/29 and the winners will be alerted via email.

Good luck, ladies!!!

Mr. Wrong is Mr. Right For Me!

Okay, so I might have over 50 nail polish hues...but who's counting? Because of my
polish love, I know a good color when I see it.  My latest fave is Hard Candy's Mr. Wrong. It's the most fabulous color I've seen in a while.  I'm actually wearing it as I type and have to keep stopping to admire my nails.

The unique blend of gunmetal grey, silver glitter and a tiny hint of purple makes this one of my fall staples.  The color applies beautifully; two coats made my nails completely opaque.  The end result is stunning nails that look great with anything.

This is a great color for someone who's a little shy about wearing dark polish, as the glitter lightens it up a bit.

And of course, as with all Hard Candy polishes, there's a big plastic ring to wear with it to complete the total look.
My advice? Immediately run out to the nearest Walmart and buy this shade for about $5! It's super popular and exclusively sold at Walmart.

Seductive Scent: Victoria's Secret Bombshell (AND a Giveaway!!)

Smelling fabulous is one of the most important things to me.  If you don't smell amazing, then all of your fashionista efforts are basically a waste.

Victoria's Secret Bombshell fragrance is really tickling my fancy.  And it doesn't hurt that the bottle is pink.

A blend of purple passion fruit, Shangri-la yellow peony and vanilla orchid makes this scent unique, sensual and sexy.  Layering the Body Lotion under the Body Mist really makes this gorgey fragrance last all day.

And I have a set of the two to give away to a lucky reader! Yay!! I have full-size bottles of both the Body Mist and the Body Lotion for one of you lucky, lucky gals.

To enter the giveaway, send an email to sassyalana@gmail.com with the subject line reading "BOMBSHELL".  The giveaway ends 10/22 and the winner will be alerted via email.Good luck, ladies!!!

My New Fave Hair Product: Oribe's Dry Texturizing Spray

I'm in love. With a hair product.  And I'm serious.

Oribe's Dry Texturizing Spray is nothing short of amazing. If you're a regular reader, then you're well aware of the fact that I frequently find myself with one of two hair styles: afro-chic, or limp and flat.  Neither is acceptable.

The spray works amazingly.  I used it after I had already "done" my hair (put in some serum, mouse and blow dried it).  So, my hair was completely dry.  I sprayed on some of this fab stuff and got exactly the look I was going for--gorgeous curls without having to wait for the product to dry.

The spray is also a great alternative to a dry shampoo.  I don't know about you ladies, but I'm always so busy and washing my hair daily is not an option.  Plus it's not healthy for your hair. The Dry Texturizing Spray is perfect to give your hair some lift and make it look super clean and pretty.

You can buy your own bottle (which I highly suggest) for $39.

Fashion Faux Pas: Wearing Ugly Sweatpants With Heels

This bothers me so much.  I've been hoping that this whole "wearing sweatpants in public" trend would be over by now, but I see that it has only gotten worse than I could have possibly imagined.

These Joplin Heather Grey sweatpants from JamesJeans are repulsive to begin with.  The tapered leg and the seemingly puffed out hip/crotch area isn't flattering on anyone (even the model).  The fact that each pair is around $170 doesn't help their case.

Don't get me wrong.  I have a few pairs of cute sweatpants.  That I wear at home. And that cost under $30.

The thing that bothers me the most though, is the fact that it's apparently trendy to wear ugly sweatpants like these out on the town with your most fabulous heels.

WHAT??!!  How is this socially acceptable?  It is one of the most ridiculous things I've seen in a while (other than the whole harem pants thing).

If I see anyone rocking this look, chances are they will be getting a fashion citation courtesy of Sassy Fashionista.

That is all.

The Fashionista's Way to Burn Calories!

I just found out the best thing ever today:  Cleaning your closet can burn about 230 calories per hour. Eeeee!!! How amazing is that?!

Seeing as I'm constantly organizing my closet and throwing things all over the place when I'm picking out what to wear, I'm fairly certain that I'm getting in a gym-worthy workout without actually setting foot in a gym! Yay!

Shopping, which I thought would burn more calories given the walking around and such, only burns 152 calories per hour. And costs money.

So here's the lesson: Cleaning your closet not only burns oodles of calories, it's also cheaper than shopping!  Plus, it's good to do anyway. It's definitely a win-win!

Beauty Boo-Boo: Sleeping with Your Makeup On

We've all done it. Sometimes, washing your face can seem like such a huge step when you're ridiculously tired. But, it's horrible for your skin and is simply gross. I found a few tips on how to fix your beauty sin post sleeping. Just because I found these, doesn't mean you can keep sleeping with makeup on! Never do it again. Ever.

  • Wash your face twice, and use a soft washcloth to be sure to manually (but gently) exfoliate your skin.
  • You must absolutely use an eye makeup remover that has no chance of further irritating your eyes, and get every last trace and fleck of makeup off and out of your eyes.
  • Use lubricating eye drops (not Visine-like products) to soothe your eyes (this really helps!). The Refresh brand is fab !
  • Go over your face with a well formulated toner to add antioxidants to your skin and remove last traces of makeup from your face, particularly around the hairline.
  • If breakouts or blackheads are a concern, it is essential that exfoliate.
  • If you can grab a minute, lie down with your head elevated and place a cloth-wrapped ice pack over your eyes (it will feel great and reduce puffiness and swelling).
  • Apply a lightweight, gel-textured moisturizer or serum on your face and, if needed, a more emollient moisturizer around your eyes.
  • If you can wear a lighter makeup than you did the day before you fell asleep with your makeup on, that would help a lot.
And I cannot push this enough--don't do it again!! It's so easy to wash off your makeup now that there are oodles of makeup remover wipes--some that even include moisturizers and cleansers! Try Boots No7 Quick-Thinking 4-in-1 Wipes for about $7--you'll fall in love, I promise.

Beautiful New Scent: Calvin Klein Beauty

Just in time for fall, a yummy new fragrance is hitting the stores!  The new Calvin Klein Beauty truly is a beautiful scent.

This is for sophisticated ladies--since I'll be 25 in December, I include myself in that group! Everything about the scent evokes confidence and femininity.

Interestingly, a new interpretation of a lily, a neo-lily, is the heart and soul of Calvin Klein Beauty. The amazing scent also includes notes of Ambrette Seeds, Jasmine and Cedarwood.

Despite the strong notes, I also find the scent to smell clean, if that makes sense. I guess I'm trying to say that it doesn't smell like an "old lady perfume"--or even close. A hint of the scent is alluring and beautiful (hence the name).

The Collection:
  • Eau de Parfum Spray: 3.4oz/100ml, $85
  • Eau de Parfum Spray: 1.7oz/50ml, $65
  • Eau de Parfum Spray: 1.0oz/30ml, $50
  • Luminous Bath + Shower Crème: 6.7oz/200ml, $42
  • Luminous Skin Lotion: 6.7oz/200ml, $34
The Calvin Klein Beauty fragrance collection is exclusively available at Macy’s and a select fine department and specialty stores nationwide beginning October 2010.

Fun fact:  Macy's is currently having some fab deals.  If you spend $85 on a Calvin Klein Beauty purchase, you also receive a deluxe mini roller-ball of the scent for free. Additionally, you can receive this cute makeup bag with any cosmetic or fragrance purchase over $65. PLUS, any order over $50 ships free. Not bad!

100 Eyeshadows for $10!

Yes, it's true. 100 shadow hues for $10.

ELF's latest Limited Edition 100 piece Eyeshadow Palette is an eyeshadow-lover's dream come true.  I jumped up and down when I saw it. The palette allows for countless looks from daytime neutral hues to bright and bold party shades. This is the only eyeshadow palette you will ever need.

As I've said before, ELF's overall makeup quality is amazing.  I've always found their eyeshadow to be well-pigmented and of the best quality.  This isn't some cheap ripoff; this is the real deal.

Personally, I'd stock up on these beauties for gifts in addition to picking up one for myself.  Limited edition sets always make me nervous.

On an end note, I'll say it again: you can buy yourself one of these fab palettes for $10!!!  How can you not get in on this deal??!

I Can't Cook, But I Can Still Look Cute Trying!

When I was around six, I used to love running around in my grandma's aprons.  For some odd reason, I became obsessed with always wearing her aprons every time I was over there.

The obsession grew, but unfortunately the ability to cook never seemed to come.  I do, however, constantly spill things on myself and could probably do with sporting a cute apron.

These Classic Cook Aprons are retro chic and definitely remind me of good times at my grandma's house.  The blue flower linen one really tickles my fancy.

I think I might just start wearing aprons all over the place.  It's stylish...right?

Sonia Kashuk's New Breast Cancer Awareness Line!

October's right around the corner, and that means Breast Cancer Awareness Month is just about in full swing.  I have to admit that my fave part of the month is the fact that oodles of companies offer up pink accessories! That said, since the items are for a good cause, I feel less guilty about buying every single pink doodad that catches my eye.

My recent fave is Sonia Kashuk's 2010 Breast Cancer Awareness collection.  From now until October 24, 15% of the proceeds from each sale will go to the BCRF (Breast Cancer Research Foundation).  Not bad, for such gorgeous makeup and beauty tools, right?  Personally, I'd buy everything regardless, but it's nice to know that I'm helping out a cause.

The entire collection is simply gorgeous.  The brushes and super soft and work amazingly.  The cases that they come in actually work great as clutches of evenings out.  The pink eyelash curler and tweezers are perfect tools that work as wonderfully as they work.

As for the actual makeup goodies, I'm a bit obsessed with the eyeshadow quad.  It's a bit less pink than the picture shows--the colors are more purple-hued and flatter most skin tones.  The nail polish, of course is another one of my faves (because, who doesn't love nail polish??!).

I'm just so in love with this line! Lucky for you lovely ladies, I'm giving away a few of the products!!

The Seeing Pink Brush Set, Pretty in Pink Eye Pallette, and Lend a Hand Nail Polish Set are all my favorite products, so I'm giveing away a bundle of the three amazing products.

To enter the giveaway, send an email to sassyalana@gmail.com with the subject line reading "SONIA KASHUK BCRF".  The giveaway ends 10/1 and the winner will be alerted via email.

Good luck, fabulous readers!!

To purchase any of these products on your own, check out Target!  Each piece ranges from around $6-$22.
