A Vintage Trinket Box GIVEAWAY!

Ever since I was little, I always played with my grandmother's jewelry. I've always loved all things vintage and that's why I'm sharing this gorgeous piece with you!

VINTAGEJOOLSFORYOU is a beyond fabulous online shop for all things vintage, including this amazingly gorgeous Trinket Box that the shop owner has sent me to use for a giveaway!

The site itself is run by a woman who is super passionate about what she sells. She has always been drawn to vintage pieces (much like myself!) and shares her love with her customers. She definitely has a flair for choosing the right pieces.

When I was sent this utterly fabulous trinket box, I was immediately in love. Especially once I heard the story behind it. In the words of the shop owner:

The trinket box was acquired quite some time ago at Hudson’s Department Store, which at that time, was the largest Department Store in the world and the flagship store in Detroit, Michigan, of the  J. L. Hudson Company.  Acquired, from an estate sale, I was drawn to its elegant, regal appearance and fantasized that it had been the home of a very special precious jewel.

Pretty impressive, no?

To enter the giveaway, simply send an email to sassyalana@gmail.com with the subject line reading "VINTAGE JOOLS". The giveaway ends February 20th and the winner will be alerted via email.

Good luck, ladies!

Be sure to check out the shop, VINTAGEJOOLSFORYOU, online for more fantastic pieces!

Disclosure: This post contains products sent for giveaway consideration. My priority is to you, and I honor that commitment by being honest! If you have any questions about this, please email me

There's Still Time to Order: Valentine's Day Earrings From Betsey Johnson

Without a doubt, Betsey Johnson has the best earrings. Hands down, no argument. So when I saw that Macy's can still deliver items by Valentine's Day, I had to write a post to let you fabulous readers know!

The pictured earrings, Betsey's Rose Gold-Tone Pink Stone, Glitter Heart & Imitation Pearl Mismatch Drop Earrings are my fave. Why?
1.) They're pink.
2.) They're hearts.
3.) They've got bling.

I'm sure there are a plethora of reasons why I love them other than that, but those are the big ones.

The only downer is that they're a little pricey for my taste; over $50.

But don't fret! Betsey has many other heart earrings ripe for the picking. Another pair I love is pictured below:

They're called her Rose Gold-Tone Crystal Heart Stud Earrings. I just love these because they're unique enough to tell Betsey designed them, yet subtle enough to wear with anything. The price isn't bad either at $25.

Even if you don't want to do a whole Valentine's Day thing, both sets are super gorgeous and you probably need them. Just sayin'.

Happy shopping!

Hard Candy is Launching a New Plumping Lip Gloss and I'm Obsessed!

I loved Hard Candy in the 90s, when it was re-released a few years ago, and now. Their products are incredible, and the prices are very reasonable. You're getting designer makeup at a Walmart price.

In February, Hard Candy is launching a new Plumping Serum and I'm super excited! If you've ever read this blog, you know how much I love lip products. Probably too much. I may have a problem.

Regardless of my lip gloss addiction, I was lucky enough to get to try the new product before its release, and I'm officially OBSESSED! I was already a fan of their old Plumping Serum Lip Gloss, so I didn't know what to expect. When I tried it and applied the product to my very thin lips, I immediately knew something was different. I felt a nice tingle and my lips looked beyond fabulous. I tried the Love Child hue, which is a dark pink with a touch of mauve. It basically is a color that looks like my natural lip color, only much better. I really love all the new colors as well.

I also felt like the gloss applied easier than the one that's currently on the shelves. The applicator is better--it really aids in making the gloss apply smoothly.

Below is a picture of the new colors that will be available:

This amazing new gloss will be sold at Walmart in February as part of Hard Candy's Spring collection. Each gloss will retail for $6. I think that's an amazing price for what you get! And it's worth the wait!

Happy shopping!

Fashion Faux Pas: Designer Crocs (Yes, Really)!

I can't believe how many times I've written about my hatred of Crocs. Yet somehow, they keep popping up. The latest being on various Spring 2018 runway shows, all blinged out.

The main offender? Balenciaga sent Crocs down the runway with its own high-fashion spin on the gardening shoe: adding a super-high platform and some “Balenciaga” charms. Needless to say, no amount of bling can hide the ugliness of these shoes.

Crazily enough, Balenciaga wasn’t the only brand to embrace the hideous plastic clunker: UK designer Christopher Kane offered a crystal-encrusted version, while Maison Margiela sold a $1,200 studded one.

SERIOUSLY?!??!

I don't even have the adequate words to describe how horrified I am. This is ridiculous!

If you've got a minute, do a search on this blog for "Crocs", and you'll easily see how much I hate them in general. But designer Crocs?! It sounds like a joke. I can't imagine designers thinking that bedazzled, ugly shoes would help sell their garments. And then to sell them for over $1,000?! WHAT??! I wouldn't spend that amount on gorgeous shoes, let alone purchase one of these offensive pairs for that price.

Can we just all agree that Crocs are over? I can't go on with these hideous shoes in the world!

That is all.

Everyone Needs a Pop of Glitter!

It's no secret that I'm a shimmer and glitter addict. It has gotten to the point where when any of my friends see something glitter-related, they immediately send it to me. But, God I love it!

If there's anything I love as much as glitter, of course it's lip gloss. The two together? sublime!

Eyes Lips Face has an incredible Pop of Glitter Gel that really has everything I could possibly want in a makeup product. It's sold as a product for use over the face in multiple areas, and while I can see that some of the hues would work for that, It's a bit much for moi in the shade I love.

I'm obsessed with the Rose Gold tint. To the point where I feel like I should stock up on it. Being super pale, it's just the perfect hint of color (and glitziness, of course) for my complexion. I
Rose Gold Pop of Glitter Gel
haven't been brave enough to try it anywhere but my lips, but I imagine it'd make a great blush or highlighter, depending on your skintone.

Next, I think I'd like to try a lighter color as a highlighter and maybe the gold tone for my eyes. I think it'd look fabulous, but probably not all at once!

What makes this product so special is it's staying power. To test it out, I wore it alone on my lips for an entire night out and only once did I have to reapply. And even then, it looked fine, I just assumed I needed more! I've probably tried roughly 4573895 lip products, and even the ones that promise to last aren't nearly as great as this gel.

Even though it's technically a glitter product, I'd say the gel has more of a shimmer to it. I mean, much as I love glitter, I'm in my 30s and chunky glitter lip products probably are not longer age-appropriate. But this stuff is seriously amazing.

And for $4, how can you go wrong?!

My New Favorite Pants!

I can never say enough good things about Maurices! They always have tons of stuff that I lust over, and more importantly, everything fits my short, curvy frame. If you haven't shopped there, you are truly missing out.

Their pants are particularly amazing--most of my jeans are from Maurices, understandably. But the other day, I was in the store actually trying to find another pair of jeans (I've been kind of in a jeans rut), and the sales associate pointed out THE BEST PANTS IN THE WORLD.

Their DenimFlex Jeggings in Blue Jasmine are just perfect. I normally don't gravitate towards jeggings, in fact I believe there's a post on this site about how much I hated them years ago. But these are different. They're almost like a hybrid of jeggings and jeans; the best of both worlds!

When you wear these, they almost have a dark denim look to them, so they seriously match everything.

I've also had a problem with certain pants that I wear that I can only get a good hour out of because they stretch too much. Not a problem with these pants. They do have stretch, but they are not nearly as stretchy as other items I've tried. If you're concerned about this, go a size down from what you would usually wear to avoid having to pull up your pants every five minutes. That's never fun.

You can also buy the jeggings (I hate using that word!) in several other colors. I just happen to love the blue, but they all look stunning.

Maurices does tend to have some pretty pricey jeans, but these little beauties were a mere $34!

Happy shopping, ladies!

The Prettiest Way to Detangle Your Hair

I have to give my lovely mom credit--she got me some pretty amazing gifts for Christmas. But one of my absolute faves is the Bella and Bear Brush on You Detangler Brush and Comb. The comb is great, but mainly I'm obsessed with the brush.

I know I've written about my hair struggles, but just in case you're a first time reader, my hair is ridiculously thick, wavy, frizzy, and I usually cannot get a brush to go through it. So the fact that this worked for me means that it can work for pretty much anyone out there!

First of all, how pretty is the brush?! It also comes in it's own drawstring bag in a matching fabric, so of course that's something I'm in love with.

The brush has firm, but not harsh, cone-shaped bristles without any sort of end bead, so you get a brush that easily glides through your tangles and stimulates your scalp at the same time. Also, The curved design of the brush fits perfectly in your hand, so you're not fighting with it for hours (much like my previous brushes). You can use it on wet hair, which is fabulous, but it also works well on dry hair.

Each detangling brush is under $15. Quite a steal compared to some others I've seen!

Happy shopping!

You Need This: A Sparkly Emergency Essentials Kit

If you've ever read this blog, then it shouldn't be a surprise that I love glittery, shiny, sparkly things. So when I came across this Sparkle Mini Emergency Beauty Kit from Tri-Coastal Design, you know I had a seizure of delight!

Yes, I own several "emergency" makeup/beauty kits. And yes, they're all super cute. But I also NEED this one. And I'm guessing you do too (because who wouldn't need a glittery pouch full of beauty savers?!).

The bag is definitely mini and can fit in almost any purse. The glittery, zippered pouch contains bobby pins, clear hair ties, sewing items, flossing picks and manicure essentials.

Here's a picture of what's inside to give you a better idea:

This set is perfect for quick touch-ups on the go, and the glittery pouch adds just the right amount of glamour to your look! You'll definitely be ready for a fashion emergency.

Each kit is a mere $8. This would be a great gift to get for your girlfriends, or any gal in your life (but don't forget to buy one for yourself!)

Enjoy!

The Perfect Holiday Earrings

It's true--I found them! The prettiest holiday earrings can be found at Target. Huzzah! They're SUGARFIX by BaubleBar's Colorful Crystal Drop Earrings with Tassels. So. Amazingly. Gorgeous.

Before I go on and on about my love for these, I have to point out one thing: my mom hates tassels. In any form. I own a couple pairs of earrings that are basically huge, full tassels and my mom has made it no secret that she's not a fan. It's something we have argued about--really. So, mom, I know these have "tassels", but they're so tiny and are only a small detail, so just pretend they're something else. I love you, but I love tassels too!

Okay, that's done!

The tassels are pretty, but they actually aren't the reason for my obsession this time. I really love the way the rich-hued stones look against the dark background. It makes the colors stand out more, and helps give the earrings a vintage feel.

The earrings are about 3" long, so they're large enough to bring some drama, but not so huge that they get in the way or look ridiculous. The earrings are also surprisingly lightweight too, so they're comfortable to wear.

I love how versatile these are too. You can wear them with your fave little black dress for a night out, or pair them with a comfy sweater for a cozy night in. Because they aren't heavy, you can wear these earrings from day to night with ease.

I own a few different items from the Target line of BaubleBar products, and they're all fabulous. They're well-made, practical, and I'm guaranteed to get compliments every time I wear one. What more could you possibly want from a piece of jewelry?!

This pair of earrings retails for $14.99 and can be found at most Target stores, or online.

Happy shopping!

Get Pretty Skin From H2O+ Beauty!

I've been pretty open about my skin woes--if you're a regular reader, you know that my skin is ridiculous. It's dry, flaky, overly sensitive...and just awful. So I'm always terrified to try new skincare products.

Luckily, when I tried out the H2O+ Water-Infused Hydrating Gel Mask, my skin just felt amazing. I really became obsessed with it. Unlike most paper masks, this one was thicker and actually stayed in place. The mask itself was almost sticky, in a good way. I also loved the fact that the mask came in two halves for the top and bottom of your face. I'm always trying to get my other paper masks to stay in place and cover all the right spots, but since most of them are only one piece, it's very difficult to do. The two mask pieces allowed me to apply the mask in the most accurate way possible.

I also tried out the H2O+ Water-Infused Hydrating Gel Eye Mask. It's very similar to the face mask, in the sense that it sticks to your face wherever you place it and it isn't goopy. This eye mask also works wonderfully. I used it before a night out, and when I went to apply my makeup, there was a definite difference. My under-eye area felt so soft and my concealer just glided right on without settling in the baby wrinkles I have under my eyes.

I just LOVED these products!

You can get the Gel Face Mask for $5 and the Eye Mask for $4. They also have lots of sets, so if you buy more, you save.

Happy shopping!!

Fashion Faux Pas: Harry Potter Lingerie

It pains me to write this. Full disclosure: I've never actually watched Harry Potter. But I hated the trailers, clips, and everybody in the world talking about it. So...I feel like I'm informed enough.

I just plain hate it.

So imagine the look of horror on my face when I discovered that there is actually
Harry Potter themed lingerie.

I guess I’m wondering what the appeal is. The books and movies are about kids—dorky kids. And I don’t mean that in a nerd-chic kind of way. It just seems like the last thing in the world that would A. make a woman feel sexy, and B. turn on any guy who isn’t a virgin.

I mean, the damn glasses are not included in the set, but they are obviously encouraged! And it’s apparently well-made, or even worse, somehow popular because the set retails for almost $50!

I've asked several guys (who like Harry Potter) if they thought this look was sexy. No one liked it at all. Not even a little bit.

What's interesting, is that the site,
Yandy, also offers some cute, non-creepy lingerie. They have a Disney princess line that is a little weird, but for the most part, it isn't a bad site.

But this is certainly a bad outfit for seduction--magic wand and all.

Flowy, Fabulous Frock

I'm totally obsessed with most of the Knox Rose tops at Target, but in all honesty, their Velvet Bell Sleeve Top is my absolute fave.

It's an absolutely gorgeous three-quarter sleeve '90s-ish-inspired top in navy with details of lace and crushed velvet textures. The sleeves are great--I've been seeing a lot of bell sleeves, and while they're pretty, they can get in the way when they're at the wrist. The placement of the sleeve on this is perfect.

I'm also crazy about the cut of this top. It's universally flattering and hides anything you don't want showing, but without looking like a tent-like, shapeless garment. Everything just falls beautifully.

And the color!! It is darker than your normal navy hue. In black, it would probably be a bit too much, but the slight bit of navy is super pretty.

Honestly, the entire collection is beautiful. I'm sure I'll be buying more very soon! As it is, I wanted to save this top for Thanksgiving, and I couldn't even wait a day to wear it. Am I overly obsessed? Clearly. But it's still fabulous!

Each Bell Sleeve Top retails for $27.99.

Happy shopping!

A Bunch of Beauty Blunders

Since I haven't written in a while, I thought it would be appropriate to write about several beauty mistakes that simply make my skin crawl. So take a moment to reflect--and make sure that you don't do any of the following beauty blunders!

Fragrance Overload
If you're anything like me, you've been spraying (and spraying...) the latest Victoria's Secret fragrances since the day they landed on your vanity. But be aware: too much of a good thing is a bad thing. Here are the numbers you need to know: No more than three sprays for an eau de parfum, four for an eau de toilette.
Caked-on Base
Painting on countless layers of foundation, tinted moisturizer, concealer, and powder on your face will rub off on anything you wear. You'll also look ridiculous. Trust me: I had wore super thick foundation in middle school and looked stupid. Never again! Stick with a lightweight foundation, remove any obvious spots of makeup with a damp sponge, and dab concealer just over redness and under eye circles.

Overdone Lashes
I'm also guilty of this in my past...I used to pile on a crazy amount of mascara. When poorly done, the Kardashian look you're probably going for can turn into the spidery effect that no one wants. I'm talking scarily clumpy, flaky, and just plain awful. A few falsies applied to the outer corners make your eyes look wide, innocent, and sexy, without looking like they could walk on their own. Also use Disposable Mascara Wands in between coats of mascara! They work amazingly well for this, and they're easy on your wallet.

A Sloppy Shave
Nothing says "I've given up on caring" quite like leg stubble. Shave at night for the most precise finish (your legs swell as you sleep, so you'll miss hairs if you shave in the morning) and use a new blade frequently. Doing this will help you avoid those annoying red razor bumps, and make the job easier.

Sticky Lip Gloss
There are lip glosses that moisturize with a gorgeous sheen, and there are those that are so sticky they could glue together broken glass. Or at least ensure that you always have hair stuck to your lips at all times. Not attractive, and super annoying. Keep your lips kissable with a gloss like Neutrogena's Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Shine—it lasts longer than most and isn't the least bit sticky.

Orange-y Self Tanner
A subtle bronze glow is lovely, but one coat too many and you're suddenly an Oompa Loompa. Play it safe and go for one that's just one shade darker than your natural skin-tone. If you're worried about making a mistake, dilute self-tanner with moisturizer or try a gradual tanning lotion, like Jergens Natural Glow Revitalizing Daily Moisturizer.

Stay fabulous, ladies!

My Spanx Adventure

When I was a pretty, young, pre-fashionista, I heard about Spanx. Admittedly, I found the whole idea ridiculous--I was skinny and even if I hadn't been, I assumed Spanx would be very tight and almost hurt. I dismissed the whole body shapewear thing from my life pretty quickly!

But of course now, things are much different.

I'm in my [very, very] early 30s and it's definitely more difficult for me to stay in shape. I was just randomly walking around Target and saw the Spanx display and knew that it was time to give them a go.

I got the Slim Cognito High-Waisted Mid-Thigh Short Spanx in black, mainly because they were on sale, and they looked like they would be perfect to wear under my plethora of dresses.I took my brand new Spanx and wore them under a dress that probably would have been unflattering had I not made the leap to Spanx. The shorts are simply amazing!

I first wore them on Mother's Day (I brought a backup outfit just in case!), because I knew I'd be out of my house for a while and I wanted to see how long I could last in the Spanx. Well, it turned out that they were somehow, magically comfortable. I was beyond surprised. In addition to the comfort, they worked fabulously. My bod looked great; everything was tucked in and out of the way.

So, I've officially converted to being a Spanx person! I can easily see myself buying almost all of their items!

The only problem I have with the company is their Spanx for Men collection. I understand that guys can have the same body issues as women, but I'm telling you--if my husband started rockin' them, I'm pretty sure I would leave and never come back!

Check out the entire Spanx site to see all of the different options they have. They are a bit pricey, but they're very well made. You definitely get what you paid for.

Spanx it up, ladies!! I finally approve!

Everything You Need to Have Kissable Lips on Valentine's Day (or just all the time)!

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, it's time to get your lips in shape for some serious smooching. And honestly, even if you're spending the day without a significant other, you can still enjoy having fresh, clean, and pretty pucker. And who wouldn't want that?!

The first product I'm recommending is patchology's Lip Renewal FlashPatch Lip Gels. The set is $15 and includes five lip patches. They're just like a face mask that's only intended to be used on lips.

I've shared on my blog before how dry and awful my skin is;--and that includes my lips. It is so hard for me to find products that don't hurt my overly sensitive, dry lips and skin. But these lip gels are amazing. Not only did I not experience any irritation, but once it was done, my lips felt incredible. And I don't think I've ever described my lips as being "incredible" before! 'm just loving it!

Once your lips are moisturized and gorgeous to the max, I highly recommend following up with Clinique's Chubby Stick Moisturing Lip Color Balm. Each hue is $17, and they really give your lips vibrant, nourishing color and are loaded with mango and shea butters so your lips feel comfortably soft and smooth. So you get the color and the moisture!

Currently, Clinique has a super cute Crayola Chubby Lip Crayon Box (Limited Edition) for $49.50. With this set, you get eight different colored Chubby Sticks in a kit that does look like a fun box of crayons. I mean, I'd rather have the cute, and gorgeous-looking Chubby Sticks than crayons. They're basically like crayons for makeup-loving gals like myself.

AND there's one more fun piece of info: Clinique currently has a gift with purchase available to anyone who spends $27 or more on Clinique products at Nordstrom. So it's definitely worth it to spend a little extra on the products, because below is what you get for free after spending $27:

The GWP containts some great products that I'm already in love with, and some new ones--it's a good mix. You also don't need a code for it; the GWP will automatically show up in your shopping bag once you've spent enough to qualify for it.  Here's what comes with the gift:

  • Deluxe samples of Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream (1 oz.)
  • Smart Custom-Repair Serum (0.34 oz.)
  • Chubby in the Nude Foundation Stick in Voluptous Vanilla (0.12 oz.)
  • Blended Face Powder in Invisible Blend (0.16 oz.)
  • Pop Lip Colour in Sweet Pop
  • High Impact Mascara in Black (0.14 oz.)
  • a dot-print cosmetics bag

Not bad, right?! Take advantage of this deal while you can, and get your pretty pout ready for some h-core kissing.

Actually. now that I think of it, grab some Tic Tacs or something too. That's never a bad idea.

And there you are--all the important ingredients for the perfect Valentine's Day pucker.

Happy smooching, pretties!

Of COURSE Kate Spade Has the Fanciest Flasks!

There are two things I'm currently obsessed with: Kate Spade (for obvious reasons), and flasks (again, for obvious reasons...ish).

Before I even understood fashion, I loved Kate Spade. I just knew the brand was classy, and that as an adult, I hoped to always own a few of their bags and baubles--finances be damned! And as I dreamed, I almost always have a few Kate Spade handbags, as well as some of their gorgeous jewelry...just don't tell my husband.

As far as flasks go, I used my first one in college. I thought it would be hilarious to fill it with water, pretend it was vodka, and take it to class with me. I also thought that doing the same exact thing at my Grandma's house for Thanksgiving would be a hoot. Unfortunately, I don't remember anyone finding it as funny as me, but whatever--I was going to continue to drink non-alcoholic beverages from a flask--and as long as it had me awkwardly giggling to myself, I would continue to do so! Clearly it wasn't a phase or anything, as I am currently thirty and I still drink water from flasks for entertainment.

I only recently found out that Kate Spade has the fanciest flasks I've ever seen in my life. Two of my fave things combined?! I've got to get one (or both)! And hey, I might just throw some actual liquor in them to celebrate! THIS IS HUGE!

Pictured above on the left is the super luxe Two of a Kind 'Just Between Us' Gold Faceted Flask. I love the classic look, the gold detail, and the general shape of the flask. Oh yeah, and the fact that printed in tiny block letters is the phrase, 'Just Between Us'. I like that. And it's true. Because, in all actuality, what you fill it with is just between you and the flask! No need to involve others.

The second one pictured is a pretty, dainty flask called the Silver Street 'Happy Hour' Flask. This one isn't hiding anything. It practically screams, "It's happy hour, and Imma get my drink on, but I'm doing it with this classy flask, so everything's cool". That might seem like a lot for a flask to say, but having the words 'Happy Hour' printed neatly on the front really doesn't leave much to the imagination. It's not a bad thing; in fact, I love that the sleek bottle tells it like it is. The cheeky, girlish flask, "engraved with encouragement for happy hour", really is perfect to throw in a clutch for a night out. Love it!

Both flasks are beyond fabulous. Personally, I want one of each so I have a flask to match my mood. That said, they'd also make great gifts, so keep them in mind for the holidays. At $40 each, the flasks are without a doubt, a couple of the chicest and least expensive gifts that Kate Spade has to offer. And I don't hate it!

Happy shopping (and drinking), ladies!

What I'm Loving: Tweexy--The Original Wearable Nail Polish Holder

I highly doubt that anyone loves nail polish more than I do...I could be wrong, but I'm looking at my tub o' polish right now and I'm guessing I own over 200 different polishes (even though most of them are just different shades of pink). That said, nail polish, is used by 71% of females--even more than lipstick. (Gasp)! For gals in their teens and twenties, the number is closer to 84%. That's a lot of nail polish. And if you're like me, you've probably spilled quite a few bottles of the stuff and have a stain on your floor, or at the very least knocked over a bottle or two.

Enter Tweexy. It's a silicone nail polish holder you wear on your hand like a ring so you can keep your polish bottle front and center without knocking it over while switching hands.

The creators of Tweexy purchased thousands of polishes, different brands with different sizes and shaped bottles, and tested prototypes to figure out exactly what holder design would fit them all. And they cracked the code! No matter what brand is your fave, it will fit! Huzzah!

Here's what the "ring" looks like sans polish:

You can even wear two Tweexys comfortably for nail art, different polish colors or base and topcoats. The two expandable rings are thick enough to naturally keep fingers separated during polishing, allowing your hand to relax. The two rubber wings act as levers and pull open the finger rings to accommodate different finger sizes. When you have completed polishing one hand you can effortlessly pull the Tweexy off (vertically) and transfer it to your opposite hand, all without smearing your freshly, fabulously applied polish.

Another huge bonus? You can use Tweexy to get every last drop out of your fave polish by simply tilting your hand. I know I've thrown out several bottles of expensive polish that were still half-full, simply because the brush wouldn't reach it. And I know I'm not alone.

This video should give you an idea how Tweexy works:

Tweexy is available in seven super cute colors: Bonbon Pink, Spa Green, Sapphire Night, Lilac Dreams, Pink Frosting, California Green and Island Blue. You can buy one for $14.95 here on Amazon.

Happy polishing!

That's MRS. FANCYPANTS to you!

Ever since I was just a wee little sassy girl, I've always loved titles, like Mrs. and Miss. Chances are, it was the countless years I spent reading a fairly crazy amount of Little Miss books, (Little Miss Bossy and Little Miss Chatterbox were my faves, for obvious reasons).

But now I'm an adult, I'm married, and I have boring responsibilities. I am, however, still pretty cool. So this fabulous Mrs. Fancypants Mug from Ashley Brooke Designs is clearly right up my alley!
Here's why I love it:
  1. I am Mrs. Fancypants: I'm a Mrs., I'm fancy, and I wear pants (which often times are somewhat fancy). I didn't like the definition of "fancypants" that the un-fancy Merriam-Webster dictionary had to offer: "overly elegant or refined : la-di-da". Luckily Urban Dictionary had the definition I knew in my heart to be true: "Sophisticated or impressive. See posh." That's moi!
  2. The site's product description rocks: "As the lady of the house, this mug leaves absolutely no question as to how fabulous you are!"
  3. The writing is in pink.
It's too bad that there isn't a male version of this super cute mug. Just kidding, there is!
Meet the Mr. Handsome Mug! It's the perfect mug for your man, but it doesn't outshine the chic, girly version. Love it!

Each of the mugs cost $23. Yes, it is a little pricey, but you can tell that they're very well-made and are beautifully designed. I definitely think they're worth it, simply because these mugs are so darn cute!

If you're like me and want to buy the two mugs together, you can get them both in the Mr. and Mrs. Coffee Mug Set for $42. Honestly, I think the set would make a great gift for any couple (including myself and my husband--hint, hint!).

For those girls who either aren't married, don't fret! There's also a mug for you! The Miss Fancypants Mug is what the young people would call totes adorbs. In all seriousness, I might buy one even though I'm married!

Whether you buy one mug or oodles of 'em, they'll each arrive in an adorable hot pink gift box with gold lettering...très chic, no?

If you're a weirdo who's totally against mugs (who the hell do you think you are?!), or you just want to look at some more cute products, peruse the Ashley Brook Design online store. I promise you'll love everything.

Happy spending!

My TOP EIGHT Chloe + Isabel Jewelry Picks

I recently started selling Chloe + Isabel baubles...and quite frankly I'm in love with almost everything I've seen from them! Everything is so well-made, hypoallergenic, and looks incredibly gorgeous. I'm also a fan of the fact that they cater to a lot of different styles. If you like huge statement pieces, they have the prettiest pieces, hands down. But if you like more dainty jewelry, they have that too. And everything in-between.

Every girl out there should really check out the line. Trust me, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Below are eight of my absolute fave pieces from the company (you can purchase them, and other items, at my online boutique):

  1. Cushion-Cut Cocktail Ring ($42) - I love love love this ring! It's a great color and it looks super glamorous. This fab cocktail ring comes in size 6, 7, and 8.
  2. Aventine Collar Necklace ($78) - If you're looking for a statement necklace that doesn't completely take over your look, this collar necklace is for you! It looks so chic and is the perfect piece to wear if you want to elevate your ensemble. Also, since black and white has become a trend again (I'm guessing for the 5th time this year), this pop-of-white necklace would really stand out with a black blouse.
  3. Bead + Ribbon Multi-Wrap Bracelet ($48) - I'm really into navy blue lately, so it's no wonder why this gorgeous wrap bracelet is something I'm obsessed with. I've had mine for a couple weeks, and I think I've worn it every single day. It just matches everything, since it's main colors are neutral shades. The bracelet is also adjustable (woohoo for all small-wristed gals like me!). Oh, and you can even wear it as a necklace if you want--it looks fab either way.
  4. Trevi Convertible Statement Earrings ($52) - How stunning are these earrings?! I'm drooling over them. One thing I absolutely love about Chloe + Isabel is that they have a lot of items that can be worn in different ways. These insanely beautiful earrings can be worn two ways: just the top of the earring as a stud, or with the bottom attached to make a great statement earring. Both ways are gorgeous, of course. It's the ultimate work-to-weekend style companion!
  5. Portico Linear Drop Earrings ($38) - Listen to me. You need these earrings. Now. They are just so luxe and beautiful, yet they also look classic and almost simple (in a good way). These earrings are perfect to wear with virtually anything. They look amazing with a fancy little black dress, and also look great paired with jeans and a t-shirt. Win-win!
  6. Leather + Baguette Bracelet ($26) - My mom and I each own one of these metallic must-have leather bracelets, and we absolutely love them! I'm a huge lover of bracelets, and this one is probably my current fave. You can wear it alone, or layer it with other bracelets--either way, this pretty little bracelet definitely brings some sparkle and shine to any look.
  7. Take Heart Pendant Necklace ($28) - This pendant necklace is yet another Chloe + Isabel piece that I own and am obsessed with. It's easy to see why--it's a very pretty, delicate necklace that I think almost anyone would love. It goes with anything and while it is small, the clear crystal on the pendant is just enough bling to attract some attention.
  8. Baguette + Stone Stackable Duo Rings ($48) - I saved the best for last! I'm absolutely loving this ring set. Both of the rings are so elegant and beautiful. Personally, I like to wear them both together, but they also look gorgeous when worn individually. The rings comes in size 6, 7, 8, and 9.

How gorgeous is everything?! I just love it all. And my online boutique has loads more for you to look at. Happy shopping!

Beauty Boo-Boo: What's With This Grey Lipstick Thing?

I've been seeing grey lips on runways for years, but somehow this ridiculous look has trickled its way down into being an actual regular-people trend. For people like you and me.

I'll give you a sec to let that sit in.

For some ungodly reason, I seem to be the only beauty writer in the world who hates grey lipstick. I don't understand why. I just don't get how anyone can be sucked into this blackhole (or greyhole, I should say) of horror. I mean I just can't imagine being out looking at lipstick, picking up a dull charcoal color, and thinking to myself how amazing it would look. I cringe when I see it in pictures. Never mind real life. And it's not like I'm afraid to take risks with lip color--I go bright, nude, and even neon on occasion. Neon, for God's sake!

That said, my sister was admittedly more of the "goth kid" when we were growing up and definitely sported lips that were grey-ish, so maybe I lack some sort of gene that is necessary for obsessing over dusty-colored lip products.

To me, this whole grey thing is just crazy. The color doesn't do anyone any favors. It's not like it enhances anything. And even though there are a bunch of different grey shades out there right now, trust me--there isn't a grey that "flatters" anyone. They all look weird, and usually dirty.

The truth? The only thing you can really do with grey lipstick is make your face look like it's a black and white photo. Pair the lips with a grey smoky eye and you're good to go! That might be a cool Halloween costume, actually...but that's it.

So before you think that you're "trendy enough" to pull this off, stop and think for a minute about how stupid it is.

Or blow your cash on MAC's stupid, grey lipstick in Halsey ($17). But you've been warned.

If you want to try something pretty and different for spring, I say go for a bright fuchsia hue. Grab one of MAC's pretty other hues, Girl About Town ($17). It's bold, bright, and super gorgeous. And it certainly doesn't look like smashed up cement.

That is all.
